HARVEY D. VAN SICKLE
Harvey D. Van Sickle, age 94, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away peacefully on October 27,
2017, at Redwood of Raymore. Private family services will take place at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, memorial donations may be given to The ALS Association Rocky Mountain Chapter,
10855 Dover Street, Suite 500, Westminster CO 80021 (webco.alsa.org).
Harvey was born on September 18, 1923, in Elmwood, Illinois. He was the son of Harvey Ford
Van Sickle and Edith R. (Young) Van Sickle.
On October 30, 1942, Harvey entered into the Army Air Corps (before the Air Force was
established) and he faithfully served his country during World War II.
Harvey worked in College School Administration for 42 years, holding different titles from Dean
of Students to his last position as the Dean of Finance for DeVry University, Kansas City,
Missouri.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Ford Van Sickle and Edith R. (Young) Van
Sickle; his wife of 45 years, Betty Jean Walmsley; his partner of 22 years, Edith Pease; sister,
Marilyn Jo Callister; daughter-in-law, Lisa Zoe Van Sickle; and son-in-law, David L. Dickinson.
He is survived by his children, Janet Dickinson, Cathy Plaskett (Robert), Susan Rogers (David),
David Van Sickle, and Samantha Skiles; 10 grandchildren, Shari (Robert), Scott (Kim), Casey
(Amanda), Kelli (Tyler), Andrew (Carolyn), Alex, Lauren, Leigha, CJ, and Justin; 3 great-
grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Wayne Callister; many nieces,
nephews and other members of his loving family.
