GREGORY JAMES CULLEN

Gregory James Cullen, 57, of Peculiar, Missouri passed away December 29, 2013 at KU Medical Center surrounded by his loving family and friends. A Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 2, 2014 at St. Sabina Catholic Church 700 Trevis Ave. Belton, MO with burial in Wills Cemetery, Peculiar, MO. A Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Cullen Funeral Home 612 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, MO.

Greg was born June 3, 1956 in Corning, Iowa, the son of James and Nancy Mills Cullen. He graduated from Cumberland-Massena High School in May of 1974. He was united in marriage to Irene Olson on February 22, 1976 in Massena, Iowa. He graduated from Worsham College of Mortuary Science, Chicago, IL in March of 1981. He moved his family to the Kansas City area in 1981 where he was employed as a funeral director/embalmer until he was able to fulfill his lifelong dream of building Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore, MO in 1991. Greg took great pride in serving the Raymore, Belton and Peculiar areas. Greg was a member of St. Sabina Catholic Church, Missouri Funeral Directors Association, Raymore Homecoming Committee, Ray-Pec Booster Club, Raymore Historical Society, Cass County Coalition of Chambers, F. O. E. Peculiar, KC Mounted Patrol, AQHA and MQHA, President of Raymore Chamber of Commerce 1994-1995, Recorder for Knights of Columbus Council 5586 Belton, MO, Board of Directors of Raymore Historical Society. One of his proudest accomplishments was being a member of the Emergency Responder Team for the Joplin tornado disaster of 2011.

Greg's true loves were Irene, his children and grandchildren. He loved traveling with his family, coaching and watching his children and grandchildren's sports and activities, owning Cullen Quarter Horses, supporting his wife's love of animals, and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, James Cullen and father-in-law Delbert "Bob" Olson. Greg is survived by his wife Irene Cullen of 37 years of the home; children, Kyli Harmon (Andy), Aleisha Kintner (Kirk), and Seth Cullen (Callie); mother, Nancy Cullen; sister, Sheila Symonds (Butch); brother, Jeff Cullen (Teresa); grandchildren, Alexis, Austin Harmon, Cullen Kintner, Chloe, Claire Cullen, nieces, nephews, and loving family and friends.
