Obituary

GLEN DWANE BURNETT, JR.

Glen Dwane Burnett, Jr., 74, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born on December 25, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, Glen’s life held many chapters, but he was always defined by his creativity, his resilience, and the deep affection he carried for his family.

Glen worked as an iron worker and welder, trades that reflected his strength, skill, and pride in craftsmanship. His greatest artistic passion was woodworking. His home, and the homes of many others, are filled with pieces he created by hand, each one a lasting reminder of his talent, patience, and generous spirit.

Glen was also an avid lover of the outdoors. He found joy in growing trees and plants of all kinds, tending to what he lovingly called his “forest.” Nurturing life from the soil brought him peace, purpose, and pride, and his family hopes others will honor his memory by planting trees of their own.

In these last ten years, Glen rarely missed a family moment, from school events and ball games to graduations, weddings, and every gathering in between.

Glen is survived by his children: Jennifer Starforth-Hale (Luke), David Burnett (Kristen), Amy Burnett, Glen Burnett III (Tiffany), Alecia Potter (Malcom), Josh Burnett (Cherrie), and Jaelyn Burnett.

He is also survived by his siblings: Gary Burnett (Debbie), David Burnett (Christie), and Don Burnett; and by his grandchildren: Kylie Perry, Zach Starforth (Ali), Dylan Burnett, Jordan Burnett, Rian Burnett, McKenna Burnett, Aidan Starforth (Katie), Nixon Burnett, Typhon Burnett, Taliah Potter, Luna Potter, Lyra Potter, Bryce Hale, and William Hale-Gomez – and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glen Burnett Sr. and Bettye Burnett, his sister Susan Coyle, his brother-in-law Denny, his sister in law Carol, and his second wife, Peg.

A celebration of life will be held on a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages others to honor Glen’s memory by planting trees or nurturing something that grows – a living tribute to the “forest” he loved so dearly.
