GEORGIA LEONE HURST

Georgia Leone Hurst, 96, of Foxwood Springs, Raymore, Missouri passed away on July 30, 2013. Georgia was born to William Curtis and Alma Kiesling Hurst in Leon, Iowa on December 19, 1916.

Memorial services will be held Saturday August 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Bromwell Lounge in Foxwood Springs. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to KC Hospice.

Georgia grew up in Leon, Iowa and graduated valedictorian of her high school class of 1935. She was editor-in-chief of the high school paper and sang in the honors' choir.

Georgia served her country in the Navy Waves from 1944-1946 and trained sailor in aerial gunnery. Georgia graduated from George Washington University in 1951. She began her career in government service at the Naval Research Laboratory and retired from the Department of the Interior in 1973.

After retiring, she moved to Foxwood Springs to be near family members. Georgia was very active in church activities and volunteered for many years at the local hospital. She was a devout Christian and member of Raymore Christian Church.

Georgia loved to travel and visited 35 foreign countries and many places of interest in U.S.

Georgia will be remembered by family and friends for her faith, humility and generosity of her time, talents and resources. She will be greatly missed by all.

Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, sister Sada Belle Hurst Miller, brother-in-law Russell Miller, brother Wilbur Hurst, brother Wright Hurst and nephews, Charles Hurst and Tom Hurst. She is survived by nephews, Art and Don Miller, David and Richard Hurst and nieces, Marilyn Hurst Quiter and Jennifer Hurst Riley.
