GEORGE WYLEY ELKINS

George Wyley Elkins was born March 6, 1930 in Peculiar, MO. He passed away on January 22, 2013. He was born the youngest son of George D. and Sally Gladdys (Belcher) Elkins. He leaves his wife of 58 years Peggy N. Elkins and daughter, Georgia L. Elkins Combs and children, Shanna Kieser and Erin Putnam; daughter in law, Theresa Elkins and children, Rhianna and Clint; and had 6 great grandkids; brother, Arthur W. Elkins of Belton and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Allen W. Elkins and sisters, Ada Groh and Alice Dillaplain and son, Arthur N. Elkins. Funeral services will be 3 PM Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Belton Christian Church with visitation 1-3 PM. Inurnment will be in Belton Cemetery. He graduated from Belton High School as Valedictorian and from Kansas City University. He went to work for Bruce Dodson until the Army called him in. When he got out of the Army he went back to Dodson Insurance Group and worked there until he retired. He was the oldest living member of Belton Christian Church where he served as an Elder for many years and as a member of the Choir. He was active in the Belton Historical Society, Belton Chamber of Commerce, Belton Community Projects Inc., the Board of Education, AARP Tax for Seniors and many insurance committees. The family wishes in lieu of flowers donations to a memorial fund at the Belton Christian Church, 409 Airway Lane, Belton, MO 64012.
