GEORGE J. BARBER

George J. Barber, age 81, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on January 16th, 2018, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Raymore Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life service will take place from 3:00-7:00 p.m., Saturday, January 20th, at Kevin Barber's home, 1509 Cross Creek Drive, Raymore, Missouri 64083.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Raymore-Peculiar Optimist Club, Ray-Pec Sunrise Foundation, 704 West Foxwood Drive, P.O. Box 1280, Raymore, Mo. 64083. The Foundation will then give you a donation letter for proof of your charitable contribution. Your check should be payable to: "Ray-Pec Sunrise Foundation c/o UMB."

George was born on October 20, 1936, in Colfax, Iowa. He was the son of George A. Barber and Pearl (Stienman) Barber.

On October 31st, 1958, George was united in marriage with Mary Evelyn Salmon. Together, George and Mary Evelyn were blessed with two sons, Kevin and Gary.

For over twenty years, George worked as a Scale Technician for Van Dyke Scales, Inc., of Kansas City, Missouri.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Pearl Barber.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Mary Evelyn Barber; sons, Kevin W. Barber (Rhonda), and Gary A. Barber (Jeannie); sister, Rose Mary Sybert (Robert); three brothers, Charles Barber (Helen), John Barber (Linda), and David Barber; five grandchildren, Kara Barber (Dr. Mohanad Alobadi, MD), Kory Barber, Katherine Barber, Elizabeth Barber, and Garrett Barber.
