GENEVIEVE R. WOODBURN
Genevieve R. Woodburn, age 95, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2019.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 16 , 2019 at St. Matthews Apostle Parish, 8001 Longview Rd., Kansas City, Missouri 64134. An Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Missouri 64138.
Genevieve was born on November 23, 1923 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Joseph Kalata and Nettie (Seliga) Kalata. Growing up, Genevieve was one of ten children including, Andrew, John, Joseph, George, Helen, Mary, Agnes, Florence and Evelyn After graduating high school, Genevieve continued her education through many business courses. For many years she worked for the Internal Revenue Service as a Data Input Specialist. This of course came after Genevieve's proud and honorable service in the United States Navy, when she would record flight times.
On July 21, 1945 Genevieve was joined in marriage with her late husband, Leslie O. Woodburn. Together they were blessed with three sons, Gerald, Richard and Leslie "Woody". In life, Genevieve was an avid bowler, loved spending time with her family at the lake, and enjoyed spending time on the boats at the penny slot machines. Genevieve was an active and faithful member of the St. Matthew's Apostle Parish; her Catholic faith was very important to her.
Genevieve is preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, Leslie O. Woodburn; her parents, _Joseph and Nettie Kalata; four brothers, John, George, Andy, and Joseph Kalata; four sisters, Helen Haselius, Mary Stanowski, Agnes Mickelson, and Evelyn Bolton; and grandson, Brian Woodburn.
She is survived by her three sons, Gerald L. Woodburn (Muriel), Richard L. Woodburn (Jin Fang), and Leslie "Woody" O. Woodburn II (Robin); sister, Florence Peterson; five grandchildren, Keith (Sydney), Chad, Cheryl (Brian)Justin, Nathan, and Tori; and two great grandchildren, Daniel and Ella.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the St. Matthews Apostle Parish, 8001 Longview Rd., Kansas City, Missouri 64134.
