Obituary

GAVYN WILSON BROOKS

Gavyn Wilson Brooks, age 18, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on November 23, 2025.

Gavyn was born in Woodward, Oklahoma, on January 23, 2007.

He moved to and grew up in Raymore, Missouri, where he recently graduated from the Ray-Pec High School, Class of 2025.  He also attended the Ray-Pec LEAD Center, where his study was in Carpentry.

After graduation, Gavyn showed interest in welding or joining the U.S. Army, where he aspired to be an Airborne Ranger and follow in his dad's footsteps.

Throughout Gavyn's short life, he showed interest and participated in a variety of activities such as high school football, wrestling, weightlifting, trap shooting, Taekwondo, hunting, skateboarding, playing his guitar, and of course, playing his video games with buddies.

Gavyn was a promising young man who had an abundance of kindness and compassion.  The phrases "No, Sir," or "Yes, Ma'am" were phrases he often used.  He was respectful when he spoke to others and always willing to offer a helping hand, especially to the elderly neighbors.  He was just a phone call away.

Gavyn had an open and gentle heart, a beautiful smile, and a mischievous grin. He spoke of his dreams and ambitions.  He was a minimalist by character.  He enjoyed fishing with buddies or his Uncle T. (Travis).  He attended Homecoming and Prom with his high school sweetheart, Mia.   He expressed a desire to travel and see the world, especially after taking a cruise with his sister, Alisha, and his favorite nephew, Wayde.  He had expressed dreams of someday creating a family.  His favorite dog was "Belle," whom he adopted on his fourteenth birthday. Gavyn was a young man who could wear his heart on his sleeve. He was a young man with passion. One of his favorite songs was "One Call Away" by Charlie Puth. A song that connected him with his brothers. He enjoyed creating concoctions in the kitchen and making Tres leches cake for school functions, or always wanting Cream Corn Casserole for holiday functions.

Gavyn is survived by his loving parents, Douglas and Sheri Wilson of Raymore, Missouri.   His half-brothers, Kodi Brooks, Andon Flewelling, Joshua (Damian) Flewelling-Scott, his half-sisters Alisha Brooks and Kaitlyn Brooks.

He is also fondly remembered by his Uncle Travis Brooks and Aunt Natasha, his Uncle Charlie Flewelling, Aunt Miriah Rios, Aunt Rose Miranda, his cousins Madilyn Brooks, Jaidyn St. Peter, Jaydan Vaughn, Jordan Berry, Edith Reyna, his favorite nephew Wayde Brooks, and many other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his biological father, Michael Guy Brooks Jr, and his Uncle, Larry Lee Vaughn.

A celebration of Gavyn's life is scheduled on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, MO 64083.   Family members will receive visitors at 5pm followed by a memorial service starting at 6pm.
