Gary Wayne Walther, age 74, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, passed away on April 22, 2018, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

No formal funeral services scheduled.
A Memorial Luncheon will take place on Saturday May 12th, 11:00am-3:00pm, at the Best Western Altoona Inn, 300 - 34th Ave NW, Altoona, IA 50009.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Taylor House in Des Moines, 3401 E Douglas Ave, Des Moines, IA 50317.

Gary was born on November 18, 1943, in Des Moines, Iowa. He was the son of Wayne and Katherine Walther.

On March 30, 1964, Gary was united in marriage with Sherry Ann Leonard.

Together, Gary and Sherry were blessed with 54 years of marriage, and three children, Gary, Lisa, and Angela.

Gary worked as a salesman for Koch Brothers Printing in Des Moines, Iowa.

Gary loved his family and friends dearly. He was known for being very generous and kind to everyone. Often, people would say that he was the type of man who would give the shirt off of his back to someone who needed it.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Katherine Walther; his wife, Sherry Ann Walther (March 23, 2009); and two sisters, Beverly Emerson and Donna Gering.

Gary is survived by his children, Gary R. Walther, Lisa Hutchings (Michael), and Angela Bassett (Scott); five grandchildren, Rachel, Grant, Logan, Hannah, and Trey; nephew, Robert Formaro; and niece Deb Harmeyer.
