FRED H. SEARS
Fred H. Sears, age 89, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation service will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A graveside service will be held following the visitation at 11:30 am at Belton Cemetery in Belton, Missouri.
Fred was born at home in Cleveland, Missouri on March 7, 1930. He was the son of Harry D. Sears and Lulu B. (Nelson) Sears. Growing up, Fred had one brother, Harry Hartsel. After graduating high school, Fred continued his education and received an associate degree from the Kansas City School of Mortuary Science. Fred practiced as a mortician for a few years, however found his true interest was being a purchasing agent, primarily with BTM in Belton, Missouri. Fred also spent nine years in the United States National Guard, 205th Medical Battalion.
On June 28th, in the Summer of 1952, Fred was joined in marriage to Janice Wimmer. Together they were blessed with three daughters, Cathy, Sharon, and Debbie. Fred was a huge baseball fan and at one time, was a catcher for the Cleveland (MO) Indians. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, relaxing on the family boat and fishing, He was a proud member of the National Purchasing Association. Fred was also a member of the Lord of Love Lutheran Church in Belton, Missouri.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lulu Sears; and his brother, Harry Hartsel Sears.
He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Janice B. Sears; three daughters, Cathy Jury (Pat), Sharon Scheel, and Debbie Swisher (Bob); four grandchildren, Melissa Brooks, Kyle Scheel (Kaitlyn), Mark Swisher (Rachel) and Max Jury; one great granddaughter Madilyn; and his sister-in-law, Loretta Sears.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be given to Serenity Care Hospice, 1626 E. Elm St., Harrisonville, Missouri 64701 or Lord of Love Lutheran Church, 8306 E. 171st St., Belton, Missouri 64012.
