Obituary

FRANCES PAULINE (WHITE) SIMCOX

Frances Pauline (White) Simcox, age 92, of Raymore, MO, peacefully left this world on November 10, 2018, at Foxwood Springs.  She was born in Kansas City, KS on December 14, 1925, the oldest of three children of the late Robert E. L., Jr. and Beulah H. (Hawkins) White.

On May 5, 1943, in Kansas City, KS, she was married to James "Jim" Delnone Simcox, Sr., who preceded her in death on January 4, 2010.

In 1941, at the age of 16, Frances met Jim while participating in the horseback riding club known as the Roy Knapp Rough Riders where they learned to do barrel racing and trick riding.  Eventually their families founded the Simcox Rough Riders and they provided entertainment at local and regional rodeos.  Frances attended Wyandotte County High School and began working as a switchboard operator at General Motors Bus and Carriage in Kansas City. Jim trained as a radio operator and worked for TWA flying missions to support the war effort, stationed in Washington, D.C.  In early May 1943, he returned to Kansas City and obtained a marriage license and married Frances.  He returned to Washington and Frances took the train to join him at a new apartment which would be their first home.  After the war, they returned to Kansas City, KS.  In 1945, Jim and Frances made their home in Wyandotte County, KS, where they raised three sons.

After Jim's passing, Frances moved to Foxwood Springs in Raymore, MO where she enjoyed enduring friendships with residents and staff and frequent visits from family members. In her late 80's she became an expert using her iPad and kept in touch with family and friends using email. She had a reputation as a "card shark" because she could recall the rules for many card games without hesitation and loved to play.

Her family remembers her as a loving, giving mother and grandmother who listened with patience, gave good counsel and told wonderful stories.  Her sense of humor and wonderful laugh lifted the spirits of all who knew her.

Those who survive her include:  three sons, James Delnone Simcox, Jr. (Jill) of Minnesota, Richard Alan Simcox (Patricia) of Missouri and Jeffery Scott Simcox (Lynn) of Ohio; seven grandchildren, Lori Simcox, Matthew Simcox, Tricia Eckles, Jennifer Simcox, Margaret Ross, Elizabeth Schuette and Richard Andrew Simcox; twelve great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

One sister, Shirley Ann Zechel and one brother, Robert E. L. White III, also preceded her in death.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m.-Noon on Monday, November 26, at Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore, MO.

A private family interment will be held in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Kansas City, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Fellowship of John, Foxwood Springs Residents' Council, PO Box 701, Raymore, MO 64083.
