FLOYD WELTON HOLMAN
Floyd Welton Holman, 84, of Raymore, Missouri passed away on June 27, 2013. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 2nd at Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore, MO. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with Memorial services at noon. Graveside will follow in Crown Hill Cementary in Sedalia, MO at 3:00 pm.
Floyd W. Holman was born January 6, 1929 in Beaman, MO, the son of Roy Holman and Ruby Grimes Holman. He was raised in the small town of Beaman and attended rural elementary school, graduating from Smithton High School in 1946. After graduation Floyd and his twin brother Lloyd enlisted in the United States Army. They were stationed in Tokyo, Japan during their military duty. Floyd was a life long member of Olive Branch Baptist Church in Beaman.
Floyd and Barbara were married in 1950, they relocated to South Kansas City, MO in 1951 where they raised their family & resided for the rest of his life. He was employed by Bendix, now known as Honeywell, for 35 years working as a timekeeper and machinist until retirement in 1991. Floyd enjoyed woodworking, raising tomatoes and traveling with his wife. During their travels he was proud to have visited 49 of the 50 states, Alaska being the exception.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joel Holman and his son David Holman. Floyd is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barbara L Sims Holman; daughter Patricia Moore; six grandchildren, Patrick, Amanda, Jessee and David Holman, Kevin Moore and Stacy Graeff; ten great grandchilren, Damion, Alexis, Eli, Zoey, Zachary, Zander, Michael, Ella, McKenna and Henlee; two brothers, Russell Holman and twin brother Lloyd Holman (Betty); brother in laws, Raymond Sims (Nancy), Larry Sims (Dena) and Charles Downs; and many other loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Tyler Holmes Memorial Hospital, 409 Tyler Holmes Dr., Winona, MS 38967 for their exceptional and compassionate care to Floyd and his family.
