Obituary

EVELYN FAYE WARDEN

Evelyn Faye Warden, age 83, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away peacefully and went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, Missouri 64083. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Evelyn will then be laid to rest at Raymore Cemetery.

Evelyn was born to Fred and Iva Chapman in an old farmhouse near Hume, Missouri, on August 19, 1938. After graduating high school at the age of 16, Evelyn majored in music at Pittsburg State in Pittsburg, Kansas, and then decided she was better suited for elementary education, obtaining her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Southwest Missouri State, now known as Missouri State, in Springfield, Missouri.

On August 21, 1960, she was married to Larry Warden and was later blessed with two children, Richard (Rick) and Terri. One of the greatest joys in her life was her grandson, Joel, with whom she had a special relationship. She was an attentive and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who made a lasting impact on many.

She taught music and elementary education for over 30 years in the Metz, Gashland, Raytown, and Raymore-Peculiar schools. She published two children's books: Tommy's Travels and Oh, Please, Cricket. Evelyn also taught piano out of her home for over 50 years, published two hymns, "Reach Up and Take His Hand" and "Let Us Look Up", and had several students go on to become accomplished pianists.

She was a devoted servant to the Lord at her local church, First Baptist Raymore, now Fellowship Church Raymore, serving in various capacities over her lifetime, including children's choir, church pianist and organist, church choir member, and kids' ministry. She led a women's Sunday School class where she cultivated many close friendships. She also participated in numerous craft shows, making thousands of potholders and other hand-made crafts.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Iva Chapman; and her sister, Shirley Caskey. She is survived by her loving husband of over sixty-one years, Larry Warden; two children, Richard Warden (Melissa) of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and Terri Petersen (Doug) of Greenwood, Missouri; grandson, Joel Miles of Greenwood, Missouri; sister, Sharon Brenton (Don) of Lebanon, Missouri; brother-in-law, Leon Caskey of Clinton, Missouri; and brother-in-law, Norman Warden (Deborah) of Sierra Vista, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
