EMERY ILENE SMITH

Emery Ilene Smith, age 3, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on December 2, 2017, at Children's Mercy Hospital, after a courageous year-long battle with Neuroblastoma.

A Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 9, 2017, at Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore, Missouri. Interment will take place at the Belton Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be given to Bailey's Foundation, PO Box 289, Oak Grove, MO 64075.

Emery was born on October 15, 2014, at Shawnee Mission Hospital. She was the daughter of Zachary D. Smith and Jenna K. (Sackrider) Smith.

Emery was known for singing and dancing everywhere, all of the time, and for anyone. She loved riding horses, cuddling cats, dogs, and even insects. Everywhere that Emery went she couldn't resist picking a flower when one was in sight.

Emery was artistic, fearless, and full of wisdom. She was incredibly mature and intelligent for her age; she spoke her mind, and could easily carry on conversations with adults.

Her favorite places included feeding goats at the zoo, playing in the park, and especially going to Mema and Papa's house.

Emery was born 8 weeks early and now her parents believe she decided to come early to give them more time with her. She had so much potential to be anything she wanted to be but was taken far too soon. Their love for Emery will never end. She is now an angel watching over them until they are reunited again.

The quote that best described Emery and was used quite often during her year-long battle with cancer was "Though She Be But Little, She Is Fierce".

Emery was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Bonnie Smith.
Emery is survived by her loving parents, Zach and Jenna Smith; paternal grandparents, Paul and Missy Smith; maternal grandparents, Ed and Serena Sackrider; uncles, Dane Sackrider, Ryan Sackrider, and Mick Smith; and aunt, Natalie Smith.
