EDWARD DOYLE GREEN
Edward Doyle Green, age 88, of Belton, Missouri, went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 22, 2017. Funeral Service will be held at 6 p.m., with visitation from 5:00-6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 27 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 13025 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO 64145. Burial will take place at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 28 at the Kansas State Veteran Cemetery, Winfield, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the Kansas City Hospice Foundation, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114.
Edward was born November 3, 1928 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was the son of Bertha and Henry Green. Edward entered the armed forces and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He supported his family for 45 years as an auto body mechanic for various dealerships in Wichita, KS and Reno, NV.
Edward was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Kansas City, Missouri. He served as a missionary for the Independence, MO Employment Center.
Among Edward's many interests included a fascination with radio controlled aircraft, and he enjoyed constructing, flying, and maintaining model airplanes alongside his fellow comrades of the RC Club in Reno Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bertha (Shipley) Green; his first wife, Wilma Jackson Green; two brothers, Edgar and Eloe Green; and one sister, Barbara Vassar.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Phyllis Green; his children, Kathy Shackelford (Chuck), Julie Parks (Richard), Sherry Zamarano, Kim Thelin (Steve), Jamie Green (Laura), and Jason Crowl (JoDee); his two sisters, Maxine Kennedy and Alene Haws; 22 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
