After moving to Fargo for business school, Edvin attended the Evangelical Free Church, where a friend introduced him to Myrtle Palm; they married in October 1940. Ed enlisted in the Navy. After training on both coasts he served during WW2 in the South Pacific as a Pharmacist Mate. Once his Navy service was completed, the family settled in Fargo in1946.

Fargo with Calvary Baptist Church, Child Evangelism Fellowship and Youth for Christ; he pitched in where needed and did all sorts of different tasks.
Ed was a father, a man of integrity, a man of humility and a man of dependability. He was a generous man of right priorities who did not waste his time.
During Ed's career with the IRS he held many positions, working up from entry-level to management working with computers in the late 1960s. He walked to work daily, summer and winter, during his time with the IRS in Fargo. He was known as a problem-solver, a man to figure out issues and find solutions. In 1966 the family moved to Kansas City, MO, following a job promotion with the IRS. After retiring from the IRS Ed worked another ten years supervising tax-preparers. He and Myrtle both volunteered many hours at the Lighthouse (a home for unwed mothers).
In 1994 Myrtle and Ed moved to Foxwood Springs. Myrtle went to be with the Lord in 2005. In 2007 Ed married Jane E. Pendel, whom he had met while each was caring for a spouse with Alzheimer's. Ed and Jane continued to live at Foxwood Springs until Ed's passing.
