Dorthy was born on November 22, 1922 in Mayview, Missouri. She was the daughter of Louis and Dora Drewel, who are deceased as is her loving husband, Russell T. Johnson and brother, Omar Drewel.
Dorthy attended Wellington High School in Wellington, Missouri and soon after graduation went to work at Business Men's Assurance in Kansas City, Missouri. There, she met Russell through one of her fellow workers. They were married in January of 1947 and celebrated 62 wonderful years together until his death in 2009. Dorthy and Russell also owned Johnson Hardware, Argentine, in Kansas City, Kansas for 25 years.
The most important times in Dorthy's life were spending time with her family – Beloved children; son, Keith Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona and daughter Anita Oliva of Kenai, Alaska, who survived her as well as six grandchildren; Amber (Jon) Douglas of Kenai, Lacy (Dan) Caldwell, of Sparks, Nevada, Louie Oliva (Wendy) of Anchorage, William Oliva, of Kenai, Rina Oliva-Digby (Andrew) of Medicine Hat, Canada, and Elizabeth Oliva of Kenai, Alaska; eight great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Schwarz (Milford) and Kathryn Potter of Wellington, Missouri; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Dorthy's favorite past-times were traveling with Russell, Quilting, Crafting, and spending time with her friends at Lord of Love, Pickering Place and Foxwood Springs Living Center where she has resided for the last three years. She loved her Lord and is probably up there stitching away without any difficulty in threading a needle.
