Dorothea Ann (Pieper) West, 93, of Belton, Missouri, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Dorothea was born April 27, 1932, in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Joseph Henry and Laura Agnes (Girard) Pieper. A 1951 graduate of Weyerhaeuser High School, she followed her sister and moved to Kansas City, Missouri. She married Donald Eugene West on July 29, 1953, and they were married for 49 years until his death on June 2, 2002.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Patricia Snell (née Pieper) of Minnesota, Barbara Ludvik (née Pieper) of Wisconsin; her daughter Linda Jean McNeil (née West) of Missouri, and great grandchild Judah Metcalf.
Dorothea leaves behind: 5 children; Susanne Lemberger (née West), Karen West, Warren West (Sherri Schulte), Kelly West (Mary West), and Nancy Burford (née West) (Scott Burford).
13 grandchildren; Michael Joseph Blom, Jeffrey McNeil (Kendall McNeil), Matthew Lemberger-Truelove (Tamiko Lemberger-Truelove), Jessica Lanter (née Lemberger) (Todd Lanter), Joseph Lemberger, Scott Metcalf, Wayne West (Brandy West), Jennifer Byers (née West), Katie Harlan (née West) (Preston Harlan), Claire McCullagh (née West) (Luke McCullagh), David West (Cassie West), Mary Burford, and Christopher Burford. She leaves behind
19 great grandchildren; Byron McNeil, Hayden McNeil, Gabriel Metcalf, Naarah Lemberger-Truelove, Atom Lemberger-Truelove, Adelyn Lanter, Brooks Lanter, Dylan Lemberger, Kyler West, Keilee West, Miley West, Jensen West, Tyler Curtis, Brandon Curtis, Tagen Curtis, Alannah Curtis, Kinsley Harlan, Greyson Harlan, Marin West.
Dorothea was a devoted and loving mother who placed her children at the center of her life. She was deeply dedicated to her family, always showing her care through the time and traditions she shared with them. Dorothea was a member of St. Sabina’s Catholic Church in Belton, Missouri.
She enjoyed traveling and fishing, and she treasured her time with her family. On Saturday evenings, you could find her seated in the second row at the Big Creek Country Showplace in Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
Friends are invited to celebrate Dorothea’s life on Friday, March 13, 2026, at St. Sabina’s Catholic Church, 700 Trevis Ave, Belton, MO 64012: Rosary @ 9:30a with Visitation @ 10:00a and Service @ 11:00am.
