Donna was born in Clinton, Missouri on April 24, 1947 to Arnold and Naomi Marquardt. She graduated high school and moved to KC to begin her career as an Administrative Assistant. She continued with classes that allowed her to work in the Healthcare field the last 24 years of her professional life for RMC Hospital Patient Accounts and ultimately working for the CFO of Health Midwest. Her work continued with CHG and ended with Bethlehem Lutheran Church as a Financial Assistant.
In life, she was a faithful member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she was extremely involved in areas such as LWML serving as President for numerous terms as well as a delegate for BLC at District Conventions. She was a member of LUMA spearheading numerous drives for clothing and food for the inner city of KC. She volunteered for the Altar Guild for church and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the Quilting group making quilts and prayer shawls for missions, hospitals and needy. Donna had a true servant heart and praised Jesus for these opportunities.
Donna, along with her husband Mike spent many years, traveling through the United States as well as other countries. Overseas traveled to Aosta, Florence and Rome Italy with stops in Switzerland and France. Their US travels began focused on Lighthouses and they have seen over 280 over their travels staying at many LH Bed and Breakfast. Once they started journeys with their Motorcoach, they began marking off National Parks, Badlands, Yellowstone, Glacier, Rocky Mountains, Zion and Bryce, but their favorite was visits to Sedona where they experienced a Hot Air Balloon ride on one of their visits. Visits to Texas during winter saw them stay for 3 months with visits to Galveston, South Padre and Pharr. Donna loved to travel and see God's beauty in other places, but her favorite trips were to see her grandchildren in Larchmont, NY and Atlanta, GA. She loved her grandchildren dearly.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Naomi Marquardt; and sister, Deborah Hoene.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Scholtes; two sons, Christopher Hagar (Amy) and Jeffrey Hagar (Julie); five siblings, Deanna Anderson, Mary Shoemaker, John Marquardt, Marsha Tippie, and Melissa Payne; and five grandchildren, Claire, Alexandra, Mya, Jacob, and Jackson.
