DONALD "DON" STELLA

Donald "Don" Stella, age 77, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, passed away March 26, 2017 in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Funeral Services begin at 1:00 p.m. with Visitation at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore, Missouri. Burial will take place at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to American Heart Asssciation, 3816 Paysphere Circle Chicago, IL 60674.

Don was born September 9, 1939 in Marceline, Missouri. He was the son of Geno and Mabel (Cochran) Stella. On October 1, 1961 Don married the love of his life, Sharon Slaughter. Together Don and Sharon were blessed with two daughters, Michelle and Jennifer.

Don lovingly supported his family by working as a machinist at Bendix. In 1982, he became the Business Representative for District 71. In 1986 he became the Grand Lodge Representative of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and was later promoted to the Administrative Assistant of the Midwest Territory. He was also a member of the Missouri and Cass County Democrats.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Geno and Mabel Stella; sister, Peggy Ann Stella; two brothers-in-law, Red Slaughter and Ryan Slaughter.

He is survived by his wife of 55 ½ years, Sharon K. Stella; daughters, Michelle Berry and Jennifer Dowell (Jeff); three grandchildren, Andy Berry, Connor and Claire Dowell; one great grandchild, Audrey Berry; brother, Jerry Stella (Janet); sister-in-law, Penny Slaughter; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
