DONALD GEORGE GRIEB JR.
Donald G. Grieb Jr., age 70, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
A Visitation Service will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 21, 2019 with a Rosary Service to follow at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Saint Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis Ave. Belton, Missouri 64012. Burial will take place following Mass at Belton Cemetery in Belton, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Manos Amigas, a mission at St. Sabina Parish, 700 Trevis Ave. Belton, Mo 64012.
Don was born on January 24, 1948 in Omaha, Nebraska and grew up in Grand Island. He was the son of Donald Grieb Sr. and Beverly J. Pollreis. Don was the oldest of six children.
After high school graduation Don moved to Lincoln, Nebraska becoming a huge Cornhusker fan and graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Accounting through the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in December, 1970. Don went on to work at Nebraska Public Televison in Lincoln, American Soybean Association, in St. Louis, Missouri, and finally MRI Global in Kansas City completing a 29 year career as an accountant retiring in 2000. On November 22, 1969 Don was joined in marriage with Marilynn H. Stelk at Blessed Sacrament in Grand Island. Together they were blessed with three children, Sharon, Michael, and Matthew. Of course, over the past years, these three blessed Don and Marilynn with eight grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
A man of Catholic faith, Don was a member of the St. Sabina Church in Belton, Missouri, he was very active in the parish's Green team and social justice ministries, most especially in advocating for the DREAMERS (immigrant youth). He was also member of the Kiwanis Club of Kansas City, a coach of many of his kids athletic teams, and engaged in supporting various nieces and nephews activities. Aside from fatherhood and grand fatherhood, Don was an avid fisherman, growing up spending summers fishing in Bemidji, Minnesota and especially at his family lake home on Stockton Lake. Don also enjoyed golfing and hunting, and was an avid Royals and Husker fan.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Donald Sr. and Beverly Grieb.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marilynn Grieb; daughter Sharon Rice (Dan); twin sons, Michael Grieb (Holly) and Matthew Grieb (Julie); four sisters, Jacque Spangler, Mary Hanson, Joan Carstensen (Jim), and Susan Hiatt (Vern); brother Chris Grieb (Sheila); eight grandchildren, Alexander Rice, William Rice, Kory Miller, Ainsley Grieb, Wyatt Grieb, Lauren Grieb, Megan Grieb and Colin Grieb; and great granddaughter Ryann Miller; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
