Donald E. Miller
Donald E. (Don) Miller, age 78, passed away June 23, 2017, at the Rehabilitation Center of Raymore. He was born in Kansas City, MO, and lived in the metropolitan area most of his life. He married his high-school sweetheart, Francine Reading, with whom he raised a family and spent 58 happy years together. Don was a longtime employee of General Motors and an automotive enthusiast. He liked all things mechanical. He belonged to the Cushman Club of America, taking his restored vintage motor scooter to the club's national meets.
After retiring from GM, he and Francine purchased a few acres east of Springfield, MO, to build their dream home, with Don serving as his own general contractor. Eventually, declining health brought him back to the KC area to be closer to family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Bernice Miller; sister Dorothy; and son Richard. He leaves behind his loving wife, Francine; son Paul (Theresa); daughter-in-law Yuphan; granddaughters Katrina and Tabitha; brother Charles (Ruth); sister Mary Hoover; brothers-in-law David and LaRue Reading; sister-in-law Lucy Rupf; a special nephew, Robert Hoover (Doris); niece Carol Campbell (Don); and many dear cousins and friends.
Inurnment will begin at 11:30 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at City Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on July 7 at Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore, with visitation from 5:00-6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Serenity Care Hospice, 1626 E. Elm, Harrisonville, MO 64701; or the Alzheimer's Association, www.alz.org.
