DONALD L. DAVIS
Donald "Spike" L. Davis, age 81, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away at his home on Friday, August 9, 2019 surrounded by his loving family members.
A Visitation Service will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 1937 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri. Immediately following will be a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Burial at Raymore Cemetery in Raymore, Missouri.
Donald was born on December 13, 2019 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the only child of Winford L. Davis and Dorothy (Drennon) Davis. After graduating high school, Donald furthered his education in an apprenticeship working with sheet metal. This set the path for a successful career as a sheet metal worker with the Local #2 Union for over forty years.
His passion in his younger years was designing, building and competing with freeflight model airplanes. He also loved to quietly fish small streams at places like Roaring River and Bennett Springs state parks and did so throughout life.
In the Summer of 1969, Donald was joined in marriage with his wife Donna J. Compton on August 2. Together they were blessed with three children, David, Danny, and Deeny Davis. In life, Donald was very involved with and dedicated to his family. He was also a member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics, a Cass County Democratic Committee Member, member of the Fairfax Ghost B-25 bomber crew and was also the president of the Bermbusters BMX track where all 3 of his children raced BMX.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents; and son-in-law, Mark Hutchins.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Donna Davis; two sons, David Davis (Becki) and Daniel Davis (Whitney); daughter, Deeny Hutchins; and six grandchildren, Raechel, Jessica, Natalie, Haley, Shelby, and Dylan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be given in Donald's name to the Alzheimer's Association, 4126, 3846 W. 75th St., Prairie Village, Kansas 66208 OR the American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave., Kansas City, Missouri 64105.
