DENNIS G. "GUS" JONES

Dennis G. "Gus" Jones passed away early Wednesday morning. He was 70 years old. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Cullen Funeral Home with visitation Noon to 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Belton Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Kidney Transplant Fund for Lora Paine c/o U.S. Bank 8701 Blue Ridge Blvd., KCMO 64138 or Angel Flights Central 10 Richards Rd., KCMO 64116. Born August 20th, 1942 to Alvin Clay and Aver Urlene Jones in Bearden, Arkansas. He married Sharon K. Thompson on Dec. 18, 1965. He retired from the Air Force after 24 years including 1 year in Viet Nam. He worked 19 years for the Civil Service with the Marine Corps and the Air Force. He played football in his high school years and went to State and played in Little Rock, Arkansas. He followed Bearden's Football team all these years. He was very proud of his two children and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his son, Brian T. Jones; parents; brothers, Alvin Dwain Jones and Harrison Stewart Jones; sisters, Marcelene Dickens, Jeanette Turner, and Phyllis Jones. He is survived by his wife Sharon; daughter, Shannon Branham and husband Dave; granddaughters, Elizabeth and Kayla Branham; several nieces and nephews.
