DELLA MAE STITES

Della Mae (Price) Stites, 82, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, Nov. 24, at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at Evangel Church, 1414 East 103rd St, Kansas City, Missouri, on Wednesday, Nov. 29, with Visitation at 9:30 and Service at 11 a.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m., at Price Cemetery in Goodman, Missouri.

Della was born Sept. 6, 1935, in May Community, Missouri, the only daughter of Hugh T. Price and Fannie Lee (LaFon) Price. Della graduated Salutatorian from Anderson High School in Anderson, Missouri, in 1952. She then moved to Denver, Colorado, where she lived with her beloved Aunt Mary and worked as a secretary at a law firm. She married her high school sweetheart, Roy, on Valentine's Day, 1956 in Denver. They returned to the Kansas City area later that year, and have remained in the area ever since.

Della devoted her time and her life to what was truly important to her – God, her husband, her family and her church. Over the years, she served as a volunteer at her sons' schools and in their scouting activities. At church (Foursquare and Evangel), she served as a Sunday school teacher, board member, mentor and organist. She also was active in Women's Aglow and was instrumental in launching the local House of Hope. When she had "free time," she worked as a legal secretary and assistant for area corporations and law firms.

Della was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. Through her unconditional love, positive attitude, uncanny intuition, selfless service and true compassion, she developed strong and lasting relationships with countless friends over the years. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband Roy Stites; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Lana Stites (Olathe) and Mark and Leigh Stites (Overland Park); brother Ron Price (Goodman, MO); her grandchildren Ashley Stites (Daphnye Hubbard), Emily Copley (Christopher), Kathryne Stites, Joshua Stites, Jill Allen (Rob), and Brittney Obert (Jeremiah). Other survivors include nieces Denise Jansen and Dianne McClure; nephews David Price, Duaine Price, Doug Price, Derrick Price, Steve Stites and Scott Stites; and great-grandchildren, Ava and Charlotte Allen and Juliet Obert. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Billie Hugh Price and Harvey Lee Price.
