David "Dave" Fitzwater
June 27, 1958 – October 13, 2025

We lost a good one. David "Dave" Fitzwater passed away on October 13, 2025, and the world's a little dimmer without him in it.

Dave was the kind of guy who just knew things. Whether it was fishing, hunting, cars, or woodworking, he could do just about anything he set his mind to—and he did it well. He loved being outdoors, spending time by the water with a fishing pole in hand or out in the woods when the air turned crisp.

He had a knack for fixing just about anything—from engines to furniture to some random gadget no one else could figure out. Dave was a collector, a woodworker, and a model builder who could spend hours planning and creating with quiet focus and a steady hand. If something was broken, you called Dave—and if you didn't, he'd probably find out and come help anyway.

He had a big heart, a sharp sense of humor, and a way of teaching you something new without ever making you feel small. He was a good man—honest, hardworking, and full of stories you could listen to for hours.

Dave was preceded in death by his loving wife, Patricia Fitzwater. He leaves behind a man he loved like a son, Jason, a brother, Dale and his wife, Kathy and nieces families who live in Texas, and many cousins in the Kansas City area. All who loved him deeply and will miss him every single day.

A graveside service will be held at Mt. Washington Cemetery on Friday, October 17, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial gathering at Pine Street Bar & Grill in Raymore at 12:30 p.m.

If you want to honor Dave, go cast a fishing line, tinker with something in the garage, or sit outside and watch the sunset—that's where he'd want to be.

In lieu of flowers, Dave requested that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Harvesters Community Food Bank.
