DARRELL M. LITTLER

Darrell M. Littler, age 80, of Belton, Missouri, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Darrell was surrounded by his loving family members.

A visitation service will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:30 p.m. prior on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at St. Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis Ave., Belton, Missouri 64012. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. followed by a luncheon on Friday, September 20, 2019 at St. Sabina Catholic Church. A graveside committal will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7601 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Missouri 64138.

Darrell was born on February 8, 1939 in Linn Township, Wisconsin. He was the son of Harvey J. Littler and Hazel E. (Clapp) Littler. Growing up, Darrell was one of five children including his two brothers, Glen and Gene, and two sisters, Irene and Helen. During high school Darrell enlisted in the Minnesota Army National Guard from 1955 to 1958.  After graduating high school, Darrell joined the United States Airforce. He was inducted on August 13, 1958 and honorably discharged July 16, 1970. However, Darrell was not finished with the Airforce, he re-enlisted as a United States Airforce Reservist in 1971 until again being honorably discharged February 8, 1998. Darrell worked as a Quality Assurance Inspector for Federal Civil Service/Department of United States Airforce.

In the Fall of 1970, Darrell was joined in marriage with his wife Sandra on October 17 th in Independence, Missouri. Together Darrell and Sandra were blessed with two daughters, Dana and Nicole. Later in life, Dana and Nicole blessed Darrell with three grandchildren, Alyssa, Kendra, and Evelyn. In life, Darrell loved his family. He also was a man of faith and dedication to that which was important to him. Darrell loved music and possessed the talent to play any instrument he picked up, not by reading notes but by ear.  Darrell was a member of St. Sabina Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus and was a past commander of the American Legion #488.  In addition to all of these, Darrell loved to travel with his family.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Jay and Hazel Littler; two brothers, Harvey Glen Littler and Albert Clinton "Gene" Littler; and two sisters, Emily Irene Braford and Helen Louise Budge.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sandra K. Littler; daughter Dana Wood (Chris); daughter Nicole Christy (Clint); and three grandchildren, Alyssa, Kendra, and Evelyn; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the International Myeloma Foundation ( myeloma.org ).
