Obituary

Danny Ray Fugate
May 14, 1952 – November 13, 2025

Danny Ray Fugate, 73, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. He was born on May 14, 1952, in Bollinger County, Missouri, and raised in Sikeston, Missouri.

He was the son of the late Orbie Lawrence Fugate and Flora Melissa (Cole) Fugate. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Orbie Paul Fugate, Latha Janetta Groves, Betty Jane Skinner Evans, Lawrence "Bud" Arthur Fugate, and Donna Kaye Franey.

A graduate of the Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly University of Missouri–Rolla), Dan went on to enjoy a successful career as an Electrical Engineer with Burns & McDonnell, where he dedicated 32 years before retiring.

A man of God, guided by faith, integrity, and purpose, he found peace both at the helm of his sailboat, Sweet Tea, and in his woodworking shop. His craftsmanship reflected his discipline and attention to detail—qualities that defined every part of his life. He created countless
remarkable pieces, each one a testament to his skill, devotion, and pride in his work.

Throughout his career, Dan's work and travels took him around the world, where his curiosity and genuine interest in others allowed him to connect with people from all walks of life. He approached life with thoughtfulness, quiet strength, and an enduring sense of wonder.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Cheryl Ann (Patterson) Fugate of Raymore, Missouri; daughter Jennifer Leigh (Alberto) Ramirez of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; son Jared Shea (Katie) Fugate of Kansas City, Missouri; granddaughters Hailey, Clara, and Riley; and his sister,
Margaret Ann Patton of Palestine, Texas. He is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dan's legacy lives on through the lives he touched, the craftsmanship he shared, and the love of family and faith that guided his every day.
