Dale Curtis Hoak, 88, formerly of Raymore, Missouri passed away peacefully February 15, 2025, at Silverado Lee's Summit Memory Care Community. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 2:00pm CT at The Church of the Resurrection's Wesley Chapel in Leawood, KS. He will be interred at North Cross United Methodist Church in Kansas City, MO.

Dale was born in Niles, MI on June 11, 1936, to Donald Dale and Lucile Ellen (Deepe) Hoak. The family moved to Elkhart, IN, where Dale grew up. Dale was in the Elkhart High School marching band (tuba) and symphony orchestra (string bass), played in the Elkhart Municipal Band, and was a Quiz Kid in the 1950s at the Elco Theater. He was active in the St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Elkhart. Dale was baptized on May 26, 1940, confirmed on May 26, 1948, and received his License to Preach in the early 1950's at St. Paul's.

After graduation from Elkhart High School in 1954, Dale attended Rose Polytechnic Institute, Terre Haute, IN and graduated from Indiana State Teachers College, Terre Haute, in 1958. During college, Dale was an active member of Wesley Foundation. Through this organization, he attended a national gathering in Lawrence, KS where he met his future wife, Jean Ray Robbins. The romance blossomed and they were married at College Place Methodist Church in Greensboro, NC on June 20, 1959. After the wedding, they moved to Stockwell, IN where Dale was a student pastor.

He attended Garrett Biblical Institute in Evanston, IL, and having received his Deacon's Orders in 1960, he served as a student/assistant pastor. He transferred to the Methodist Theological School in Ohio to earn his Master of Divinity degree, graduating in 1964. After graduation, he received his Elder's Ordination becoming an Elder in the United Methodist Church and served pastorates in Indiana at Lafayette, Stockwell, Auburn, Hammond, South Bend, Waynedale (Fort Wayne), and LaCrosse-Tefft.  In 1974, Dale transferred to the Missouri West Conference of the United Methodist Church and served pastorates in Kansas City, Warrensburg, Kansas City North and Gladstone, MO.  He retired as a pastor in 1986.

As his children were involved in high school marching band, he volunteered to work concession stands at the Kansas City Royals (professional baseball) and Chiefs (professional football) as part of the band's fund-raising program. That evolved into a second career working at The Truman Sports Complex at Kaufman (Royals) and Arrowhead (Chiefs) Stadiums. It was a perfect match as he was an avid fan of both teams.

Dale is survived by his two children: Anne (Jeff) Justice (Peculiar, MO) and Stephen (Jennifer) Hoak (Ponca City, OK); a sister Rita Stewig (Marion, IA) and brother Donald Robert "Bob" Hoak (Brownsville, TX); three grandsons: Aaron (Marissa) Hoak (Ponca City, OK), Jacob (Kristen) Hoak (Tulsa, OK) and Adam (Taylor Lombard) Hoak (Flint, MI), two great grandchildren, Bentley and Lydia Hoak (Ponca City, OK), and several nieces.

Dale was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Jean, his parents, Donald and Lucile Hoak.
