CONNIE SUE THOMSEN

Connie Sue Thomsen, age 70, of Belton, Missouri passed away February 19, 2025 at The University of Kansas Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Connie was born in Canton, Illinois on July 26, 1954, the daughter of Donald D. Row and Florence Hamm. After graduating from high school, Connie worked at the local community college, moving to Belton, Mo. in 1979 to become co-owner of R&W Mfg. When the company closed in 2000, Connie pursued her passion for education by enrolling at UMKC (while working full time at Brown Industries), graduating with honors with a degree in Elementary Education, ultimately earning a Master's degree from UMKC.  She taught 5th grade at Center Elementary School in Center School District until her retirement in 2015.   She loved her students and impacted many lives while there.  She always told them "you get what you get and don't throw a fit".  That phrase lives on in our family as well as how she lived her life, enduring many curve balls without complaint.

Connie had a wonderful life with her soul mate, Gene A. Thomsen for 32 + years, marrying in 1999.  As Gene's health declined, she always put his (and everyone else's) needs before hers.

She was a loving wife, caretaker, mother, grandmother and friend.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donnie A. Row.
She is survived by her husband, Gene A. Thomsen; her son, Kevin Wiese (Jessi), whose children Hunter and Dakota were the pride and joy of her life.   Step sister Sherri Petrie, step brother Howard Blevins, step children Alyn Thomsen, Bryan Thomsen, 5 additional grandchildren, along with 3 nieces; Stephanie Bradford, Emily Wilson, Isabel Blevins & 1 nephew, Cory Row.  Also included is a multitude of blended family members too numerous to count who will feel the void of her loss deeply.
