CHERRY SUE THOMAS TETER

Cherry Sue Thomas Teter, 70, of Peculiar, Missouri, died November 4, 2016, in Kansas City, Missouri after a long chronic illness. Cherry was born in Dallas, Texas, on September 20, 1946 to Robert Lee and Frances Elizabeth Williams Thomas. She is now in the presence of her heavenly Father.

Cherry is survived by Bobby Teter, her faithful husband of 17 years, and wonderful primary care giver in the last years of her life. In 1998, Cherry married Bobby and moved to his home in Peculiar, Missouri. She is further survived by a second son born in 1971, Kevin Wayne Smith, of McKinney, Texas, and two grandchildren, Ethan and Kaylea, also, living in McKinney, Texas. One older brother living in Katy, Texas, survives Cherry, Lieutenant Commander, Donald Thomas, Medical Service Corps, U. S. Navy (Retired). Predeceasing Cherry in 2011 are her first son, Forrest Scott Smith born in 1969; her mother, Frances Elizabeth Williams Thomas in 1955; her father, Robert Lee Thomas in 1989. Her maternal grandmother, Sarah Panola Dennis Williams in 1959, with whom she lived from 1955 to 1959; her childless adopted parents, her school teacher, Elizabeth A. Scott and her husband, Walter Scott in 2005; and her brother, Robert Hatcher Thomas, in 2001. Cherry graduated from W. H. Adamson High School in Dallas, Texas, in 1965. The year following graduation she married Forrest Smith in 1966. Sons, Forrest and Kevin were born of this union. Cherry worked for Texas Instruments a number of years and later for MCI Telecommunication for 10 years. With numerous friends especially in later life, Cherry had many "telephone" and "internet" buddies. All animals, especially dogs and cats, held a special place in Cherry's heart.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, at Williams Funeral Directors, 1600 S. Garland Avenue, Garland, Texas 75040-7637. Funeral Service begins at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 11, at Williams Funeral Directors. Burial will take place at Restland Cemetery.
