CHARLOTTE SUE SHOEMAKER
Charlotte Sue Hampton Shoemaker of Raymore, MO passed into eternal life August 23, 2014. She was born in Elizabethton, TN, December 2, 1922, the daughter of Luther F. and Ethel May [Mottern] Hampton.
She received a degree to teach music from Milligan College and taught Elementary school and also was the secretary to the Principal. She pursued the business part of that career with many positions in the business community. She was the National Secretary of the Year selected by the Professional Secretary's Inc. in the 1980's. She retired in 1992.
She married the Reverend Glenn Shoemaker, August 29, 1944 in Elizabethton, TN. Together, they ministered full time to 8 congregations. She sang in the choir and Glenn preached in the pulpit. They moved to Foxwood Springs Living Center in Raymore, MO in 1992 where they remained in constant service and ministry. Glenn and Charlotte served additional congregations in the Greater Kansas City Area in interim and support roles. They both were very active in the Kansas City Disciple of Christ Region and all activities. Both were active in work for the Region's Camp and Conference Center, Tall Oaks, near Bonner Springs, KS.
Charlotte and Glenn had three children, Charles Frank Shoemaker [wife: Pat], Glenda Sue Shoemaker Ford [husband: Gary] and Earl Ray Shoemaker [wife: Susan]. She had 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sister Christine Cardwell of FL, and Brother Luther C. "Sonny" Hampton of Ohio.
Memorial services are scheduled for October 4, 2014 at the Raymore Christian Church, 500 Peace Drive, Raymore, MO 64083. Contact the church at 816-322-0561 for time. Memorials should be made in lieu of flowers to the Resident's Council Fellowship of John, PO Box 701, Raymore, MO 64083.
