CHARLES C. JARRETT
Charles C. Jarrett, 76, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on June 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 3, 1949 in Turbotville, PA, he was the son of Fred H. and Cleora V. (Phillips) Jarrett.
A proud United States Marine, SgtMajor Charles Jarrett served honorably from March 28, 1968 to September 30, 1994. He served as a Rifleman, Infantry Unit Leader, Drill Instructor and retired as a SgtMajor in the United States Marine Corps. The core values of the Marine Corps—Semper Fidelis, Honor, Courage and Commitment—guided his life both in and out of uniform.
Throughout his distinguished military career, he was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, 3 Meritorious Unit Commendations, 7 Good Conduct Medals, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, 2 National Defense Service Medals, 3 Vietnam Service Medals, 3 Sea Service Deployment Ribbons, Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Ribbon, Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation Gallantry Cross Medal, Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation Civil Actions Medal (1st Class), Rifle & Pistol Expert badges and multiple Certificates of Commendation.
Continuing his lifelong commitment to supporting the Marine Corps, Charlie enjoyed a successful civilian career as an IT Project Manager until his retirement in November 2022.
He loved spending time with his family, baking, watching baseball and listening to country music. During his more active years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and taking long drives down country roads.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Yaeko, of 49 years; his son Denny Jarrett and his wife Angie, daughters Christine Jarrett, Miki Jarrett and her husband Drew and Kei Jarrett; and his cherished grandchildren Brandon, Kaily, Madison, Connor, Ashlin, Jarrett, Grayson, Georgia and Jojo. He is also survived by his siblings Barbara and Paul Jarrett. Among his many nieces and nephews, he shared a very special bond with his nephew, Scott Jarrett, who was like a brother to him. He will be missed dearly by his many family and friends.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Robert, Richard, William, Earle and Cathleen.
A Celebration of Life will be held 5-7pm on Tuesday, June 30 at Cullen Funeral Home, located at 612 W Foxwood Dr in Raymore, MO. Charlie will be laid to rest with full military honors at 11am Wednesday, July 1 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Veterans Community Project at www.vcp.org.
His legacy of service, integrity and devotion to family will live on in all who knew and loved him. Fair winds and following seas, Sergeant Major.
