CHARLES EDWARD BREIT, SR.

Charles E. "Chuck" Breit, Sr., age 93 of Raymore, Missouri passed away at home on Friday, October 18, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

A visitation service will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr., Raymore, Missouri 64083.  A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2019 also at Cullen Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2019 at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 20109 Business Highway 13, Higginsville, Missouri 64037.

Chuck was born on March 12, 1926 in Higginsville, Missouri.  He was the son of Jay B. Breit and Florence M. (Mills) Breit.  After graduating high school Chuck served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.  He was a torpedo man on a submarine, the USS Trumpetfish.  He is listed in the United States Library of Congress from an interview that was recorded about his service in the Navy during the war.  He was a member of The Dry Docked Dolphins Kansas Chapter Subvets and served as State Commander at one time.  Chuck attended college at Missouri Valley and Rockhurst.  He worked as a precision tool machinist and owned his own machine shop in the 60's.  In earlier years he also taught ballroom dancing at the Arthur Murray dance studio and he and his wife Margaret thoroughly enjoyed dancing with each other.  In the 1970's Chuck served as president of the Interscholastic Booster Club of Kansas City High Schools and president of the East High School Booster Club.  In more recent years Chuck served for several years on the Cass County Zoning Board and was an active participant with the Ray-Pec High School Booster Club.  For many years he volunteered with the Kansas City Chiefs.  Chuck was very well known for his beautiful singing voice and was in high demand throughout his family to sing the "Ave Maria" at his children's, niece's and grandson's weddings.

Chuck's greatest achievement in his lifetime was his wife, children and grandchildren.  He loved his country, he was a man truly loyal to his commitments and friends, possessed great integrity and outstanding work ethics.

Chuck was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Margaret I. Breit; parents, Jay and Florence Breit; three sisters, Iris Grandestaff, Clay Ellen Gaston, Sue Schleuter and Bonnie Breit Kotsay; and son-in-law's, Jerry Dunn and Gary Wansing.

He is survived by his five children, Peggy Breit Wansing, Charles Breit, Jr., Roger Breit (Pam), Julia Breit Dunn and William Breit (Jeanie); eighteen grandchildren, Julie Wansing Shaw, Mark Wansing, Matt Wansing, Charles McCain, Ryan Breit, Andrew Breit, Shane Wills, Kevin Breit, Katie Breit, Mathew Breit, Melissa "Missy" Heuser, Laura Dunn, Michael Dunn, Kevin Dunn, Margaret Dunn, Bradley Breit, Brian Breit and Daniel Breit; eighteen great grandchildren, Tiffany, Randy, Jeffery, Seth, Grace, Rett, McKenzie, Nicholas, Lana, Haleigh, Ty, Franki, Kolton, Alex, Oliver, Elliott, Connor and Waylon; brother, Paul Breit; brother-in-law, Raymond Richelieu; and many nieces and nephews.
