CATHERINE CORA KIEWERT
Catherine Cora Kiewert, 86, Raymore, Missouri died Thursday, May 24, 2012 in Raymore. A memorial service will be held at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Drive, Raymore, MO on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 7:00pm.
Catherine was born in Chicago, IL on December 7, 1925. Catherine was educated at Pullman-Tech in Chicago and graduated at the top of her class. Catherine was married to Buddy William Kiewert on March 28, 1947. After traveling overseas and in the States for 30 years in the Marine Corps, they chose to retire to Pomme De Terre Lake in Hermitage, Missouri in 1975. After Bud's death in 2001, Catherine moved to Raymore to be near her children. Catherine lived with her son and daughter-in-law before entering The Rehabilitation Center of Raymore. Catherine's life has been filled with the gift of many wonderful lifelong friends and family members. Catherine's favorite activities included spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, reading, watching Jeopardy! and her love of hummingbirds.
Catherine is survived by her son Casey Kiewert and wife Debbie of Raymore Missouri; her daughter Corleen Hengel and husband Jim of Overland Park, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Evan Hengel of Los Angeles, California and Megan Hengel of Winfield, Kansas; one brother, Don Michalik of Orlando, FL and one sister, Dorothy Rippleand husband Bob of St. Pete Beach, FL; and dearly loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents Ruth and Frank Michalik, two sisters Fran Genaze and husband Russ, Charlotte Richlinski and husband Bob, and sister-in-law Gladys Belwick and husband Mike, and many dear friends.
Special thanks to Odyssey Hospice and The Rehabilitation Center of Raymore whose compassionate, kind, diligent devotion and immeasurable efforts in providing comfort and companionship have made them valued friends of Catherine's family.
