Carol Rose Blomgren Clark
1936 - 2017
Carol died in Kansas City on January 9, 2017. She has had Alzheimer's disease for many years. Carol was born on February 11, 1936, in Albia, Iowa during the worse snow storm in history. She was delivered by a midwife who had to break through the snow to get to the house.
Carol was a product of Albia Schools and the good teachers she had all of the way. She graduated with the Class of 1954 and moved to Des Moines where she worked for Ma Bell, as Bell Telephone was called at that time. After a year of work, she had saved enough money to enroll at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now called Truman State). In the summers she worked at her old job in Des Moines to earn enough money for the next year of college.
Graduation from college found her once again in Des Moines teaching school. She met Charles (Chuck) Clark, an Albia native, and they were married. Chris and Craig are the two sons born of that marriage. Chuck and Carol later divorced.
After moving to Kansas City with her family, she didn't teach school again but worked for a grocery store chain for many years. After retirement she had many good years doing the fun things she enjoyed. She especially liked the dances at the senior center and being involved with her grandchildren.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Edna Blomgren, and by three brothers – Bobby, Gene and Jimmy. She is survived by her sons- Craig (Carol) of Belton, MO and Chris (Jacquie) of Wylie, TX, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren, two nieces and a nephew, also her brother Carl Blomgren (Twyla Dell) of Overland Park, KS and sister Betty Johnston of Centennial, CO.
