With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Calista M. Waite and Gerald (Jerry) E. Waite, a devoted and admired couple who shared more than 65 years of love and companionship. Calista (Age 86) passed away March 24th, 2025. After one day, on March 26th, 2025, Jerry (Age 91) followed his wife in passing. They were with their loving family in their son's home in Belton, Mo.
Born on May 21, 1938, in Hood River, OR Calista was known for her colorful, energetic, outspoken nature. In 1975, she earned her LPN Certificate. She was interested in travel, teaching, and learning the ways of many people, cultures and religions. She painted, made pottery, researched family history and ancestry, and wrote about all of it.
Born on July 29, 1933, in Hyde Park, UT Jerry was known for his patience, strength, spiritual wisdom, and his quiet mischievous side. In 1953, Jerry was called to serve our country in the Army Airborne Rangers. In his life he was active in baseball and basketball city leagues, became an ordained minister, was a home builder and also shared his love of travel and culture and what it taught him with others.
Calista and Jerry are survived by their 3 children - Grace Renee (Waite) Barrera, Gerald Joseph (Joe) Waite, and Alma David Waite (their daughter in law Melanie Waite) and their 8 grandchildren, Benson, Armando, Phillip, Jasmine and Katarina Barrera and Bradley, Lennon and Rhiannon Waite and 5 great grandchildren.
They had so many wonderful adventures together and an abundance of friends. They were a joy to know, and they lived a full exciting life together. They touched many lives and will always remain in our hearts and memories. Their lives will be cherished and celebrated for many years to come.
In lieu of a service we will be planning a virtual memoriam that all family/friends may attend. More details will be sent out once arranged.
