BRIAN KRISTOPHER DOUGAN

Brian Kristopher Dougan, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2014 at 8:29 in the evening, after a 22 month battle with cancer. He was surrounded by loved ones at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Brian was 29 years old. Brian was born March 20, 1985 in Washington, D.C. to Vernon and Connie Dougan. Growing up Brian enjoyed baseball and basketball. He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. Brian attended elementary school in Sedalia, MO; middle school in Kearney, MO; and graduated from high school in Blue Springs, MO in 2003. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in computer sciences from Missouri State University, graduating in 2007. Upon graduation he began his career as a Software Engineer at Cerner Corporation; a career that he was very good at and loved. His team became family and his work defined him. June 30, 2012, he married the love of his life, Shelby, who was with him until his last breath. In his spare time, Brian enjoyed riding bikes, and playing video games. January, 2013, Brian was diagnosed with a very rare sarcoma. He fought with everything he had, even moving to Houston, TX to receive experimental treatment. He was an extremely loving and giving spirit and will be forever missed by all the lives he touched. The earth lost a beautiful soul, but heaven gained one stubborn and ornery angel. Brian was preceded in death by his mother Connie Dougan. He is survived by his wife, Shelby Dougan; father, Vernon Dougan; step-mother, Roxann Dougan; step-brother, Chris Harlan, wife, Julie Harlan and their two children; step-brother, Justin Harlan, wife, Elizabeth Harlan and their two children. Visitation will be held at Cullen Funeral Home in Raymore, Missouri on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 4-6 pm. A private burial at Crown Hill Cemetery in Sedalia, Missouri will take place at a later date.
