Bonnie Jean Maynard passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024, in Kansas City, MO. She was 97 years old.
A private celebration of her life, consisting of family and friends, will be held at a future date.
Bonnie was born on March 26, 1927, in Parco (Sinclair) WY, the third daughter of John and Leona Ferry. She lived there with her family throughout her childhood and as a teen worked as a soda jerk at the local drug store and cleaned rooms in the local hotel. On February 2, 1946, she married the love of her life, Andrew Jackson (Jack) Maynard in Rawlins, WY.
Throughout their life together, Bonnie, Jack and family lived in Sinclair, WY, Macks Creek, MO, Independence, MO, Lee's Summit, MO, Pom de terre Lake, MO, and Raymore, MO. They had 4 children, and Bonnie was a devoted wife and mother. She was a stay-at-home mom and in addition to caring for her family, she was committed to helping at her church, caring for the infants in the nursery, helping at the pantry, and doing whatever she could to be of assistance. She also worked at her children's schools as room mother, PTA secretary, and school nurse.
On March 8, 2011, Bonnie's husband, Jack passed away. They had been married 65 years.
Bonnie was proceeded in death by her husband, Jack Maynard, her parents, John and Leona Ferry, her sister, June Firestone (Henry), sister Margaret Decker (Clifford), half-brother Orvel Ferry (Goldie).
She is survived by her children, Nancy Baker (Gene), Dick Maynard (Mel), Debbie Boardman, and Patty Spalding along with 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 2 great great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and in-laws.
Bonnie was a loving, caring, compassionate lady who always treated everyone she met with kindness and respect. She instilled those qualities in her children along with honesty, integrity, and good morals. She was a devout Christian and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ with all of her heart. Bonnie was loved by everyone who was blessed enough to know her and her physical presence in their lives will be greatly missed.
