BILLY RAY YOUNG

Billy Ray Young, age 76, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022.

Services will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. Billy's remains will then be laid to rest at Wills Cemetery in Peculiar, Missouri.

Billy was born in Neosho, Missouri on February 16, 1946 to Truman and Viva Young. After high school, Billy was drafted into the United States Army and honorably served his country for two years. During his service he received two awards. First the National Defense Service medal and second the Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle M-14). While serving overseas in Korea and later in Vietnam he became an Ordinance Supply Specialist. As a civilian for the most part of his life he was a union master electrician. In the summer of 1970 he was joined in marriage with his wife, Miriam Young on August 30th. Their union was blessed with two children, Bradley and Kerrie. Billy was a man of Baptist faith, often attending Word of Grace Fellowship formerly known as Blue Ridge Bible Church. In life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and of course spending time with his grandchildren. Billy was the picture of a true American which could be seen in his patriotic values. He could tinker with and fix any type of small engine and was always the mischievous one in the group guaranteed to make you laugh.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Truman and Viva Young; twin sister, Sharon Kay Yetter; four sisters, Marie Popejoy, Mary Carden, Betty Cargile, and baby Carolyn Sue Young; two brothers, Richard and Leon Young; and grandson, Keenan Gabriel Dodge.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of over fifty one years, Miriam Young; son, Bradley Allan Young; daughter, Kerrie Dodge (Neal); sister, Edna Ferguson; and eleven grandchildren, Amanda, Alicen, Drake, and Dakota Young, and Ruth, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Hannah, Benjamin, Michael, and Zachariah Dodge.
