BILLY JOE McCRARY

Billy Joe McCrary, 86, of Belton, MO passed away February 16, 2014. Funeral services will be 1 PM Thursday, February 20, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Raymore 58 Hwy & Washington, Raymore, MO 64083 with visitation noon-1 PM. Burial will follow in Floral Hill East Cemetery, Lee's Summit, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, http://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/donations.

Bill was born October 17, 1927 in Holland, Missouri, the son of Ernest and Clara Slaten McCrary. Bill was a Sargent in the Army during the Korean war. He retired from the US Post Office after 30 years of service. As a proud member of the Ararat Shriners, he donated his time raising money for the Shriners Hospitals for Children and assisted in transporting children and their parents for treatment to the Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis, MO. Bill loved being with his family and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was happiest spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill had a passion for the outdoors; he loved to fish and share the vegetables he grew in his garden. Bill loved people and made friends everywhere he went. He will be truly missed.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph McCrary; sisters, Pat Wild and Phyllis Jane Kilburn. He is survived by his wife Bobbie of 63 years; sons, Timothy Joe McCrary (Deborah) and Martin Lee McCrary; daughter, Rebecca Haskamp (Mark); sister, Maryalice Taylor; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
