BEVERLY J. HOAG WICKER
Beverly Wicker of Belton, Missouri passed away peacefully at Kansas City Hospice House on January 26, 2017. A celebration of Bev's life will be Saturday, February 4, 11:30 a.m. at Southview Christian Church, 13604 Norby Rd., Grandview, MO. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Missions Dept. Southview Christian Church or the Kansas City Hospice House 12000 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO 64145.
Beverly was born in the state of Florida August 9, 1953. She graduated from Stetson University where she received her degree in Elementary Education. Beverly taught school in the Belton School district from which she retired in 2009.
Beverly also received the rank of Master SGT in the Army Reserve.
A member of Southview Christian Church, Bev has taught Sunday school and glowed with her Spirit of enthusiasm.
An avid follower of Jesus Christ, Bev took many missions trip on which she shared the GOOD NEWS by being the hands, feet and HEART of Christ. Her final mission work was teaching school at the American Indian Christian Mission in Show Low, AZ.
Salvation was a theme for Bev's life. Not only did she care about the eternal salvation of people, she had a heart to save the lives of her furry dog friends. Beverly spent countless hours walking dogs at a local shelter. Her final fur baby, Buster, has settled into a new forever home with a friend in Grandview.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents. Also preceding her in death was her loving husband Jay Wicker who passed away in 2010. She is survived by three step children. Les Wicker (Annie), Pensacola, Florida, Julie Boyer (Kevin), Winder, GA, Matt Wicker (Toni), Lake Stevens, WA and four step grandchildren, Kasey, Tyler, Corey and Bradey.
Beverly touched the lives of all she came in contact with. The JOY of the LORD was her strength, breath and reason for living. She will be missed in a huge way. Those who love her REJOICE in her VICTORY!
