BETTY WISE HERRICK
Betty Wise Herrick was born on July 25, 1925 in Kansas City MO and passed away on May 3, 2015 from pneumonia after a fall in the home. She married Verne Herrick on Sept. 2, 1949. She was a member of the Belton United Methodist Church for many years, and was choir director for 25 years. She was a member of the Raymore Historical Society, Sigma Alpha Iota Sorority, MO Retired Teachers Assoc. and Lions Club Ladies Auxiliary, Raymore. After graduating from UMKC, she taught English, history and elementary music in Peculiar, Raymore, and Belton, MO. She wrote the Gladden Elementary school song, and led a group of students called the "G Strings" that performed in the Belton area for nursing homes and others. She received a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Central Missouri State. While at the Conservatory of Music she sang operettas and performed many times, including for the Russell Stover's. Preceded in death by her husband, Verne A. Herrick, parents Jesse J. Wise and Adela Knecht Wise; brothers, Jesse, James, Stanley Wise. She is survived by daughter, Jean Herrick, Kansas City; son, Doug (Jane), CO; grandson, Wyn (Esme), Australia; sister, Dorothy Looney, FL; in-laws, Eunice Burger, Dave Lang, Irma Herrick, cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation at 12 PM; services at 1 PM at Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore, Saturday May 9, internment at Mt. Moriah following. Donations to the Raymore Historical Society. She will be missed by her friends at Foxwood Springs, where she live for many years.
