AWANDA LEE ALLEN

Awanda Lee Allen, age 89, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2020 with her loving husband, Harold at her side.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at St. Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis Ave., Belton, Missouri 64012. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church, followed by burial at Belton Cemetery in Belton, Missouri.

Awanda was born in Dewar, Oklahoma on September 24, 1931 to Daniel W. Smith and Margaret J. (Looper) Smith. Shortly after school, Awanda was joined in marriage with her husband Harold C. Allen Sr. on May 24, 1948 in Wichita, Kansas. Together they were blessed with six children. Awanda spent many years as a housewife, caring for her children. As a woman of Catholic faith, she was a member of St. Sabina Catholic Church. In life she would often enjoy her time painting and drawing, as well as spending time with her grandchildren. Family meant everything to Awanda.

Awanda was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Margaret Smith; son, Martin D. Allen; five brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by her husband of over seventy-two years, Harold C. Allen Sr.; two sons, Donald D. Allen (Judith) and Harold C. Allen Jr.; three daughters, Lana Marie Rooks (Herb), Linda S. Montgomery (Derrick), and Margaret A. Allen; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-four great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and niece and nephew, Carol Megee and Ron Megee (Jon).
