APRIL DAWN FLEENER
April Dawn Fleener, born January 20, 1965 in Kansas City, grew up in and around Raymore, Peculiar and Belton, attended and graduated from Raymore-Peculiar School System.
She had a full and challenging life with many accomplishments to her credit. The achievement of which she was the proudest was the birth of her son, Michael Charles Fleener, III. She last worked at Worldwide Steel Buildings where she was a valued employee until her health forced her to stop working. She was very proud of her contribution and their appreciation of her hard work and talent.
She was also very involved with organizations in and around Belton. The Belton Vision Team, Main Street Belton, Belton MO Info and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4492 were just a few of the organizations of which she was an active and valuable participant. Numerous web sites show off her talent. She was a co-founder of the Find Kara Committee and was recognized by the State of Missouri as an Unsung Hero for her commitment. She always had a purple bracelet or bumper sticker to give to all as a reminder of Kara's continued disappearance.
April was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer of an especially aggressive form in January 2012 on the eve of her 47th birthday. She passed from this world June 16, 2012 at the home of her parents, surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her son, Michael Charles Fleener III of Belton; parents, George T. and Donna Montgomery and brother, George A. of Raymore, innumerable close friends, extended family and cats Lucky and Socks.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Cullen Funeral Home, Raymore, from 6 - 8 PM. Services will be Thursday, June 21, 2012 at the Cullen Funeral Home at 10:00 AM. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. Inurnment will be at a later date.
