Andrea W. Verba, age 64, of Peculiar, Missouri, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019 surrounded by her loving family at Menorah Medical Center.
A visitation service will be held from 10:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083. An inurnment will take place at the Missouri State Veteran's Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.
Andrea was born in Cheverly, Maryland on February 23, 1955 to Windle Johnson and Ruth Gilbert. Growing up, Andrea had one sister, Linda. After graduating high school, she continued her nursing education in Baltimore, Maryland, ultimately earning her master's degree in nursing from The University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC), Suma Cum Lade. In life, Andrea was blessed with two daughters, Kate and Allison and after marrying her husband Ron in 2011 on October 14 th she gained two stepsons, Ronald Jr. and Ryan. Andrea was a member of the Harrisonville United Methodist Church with Ron and together they enjoyed taking camping trips, exploring different caves, having date nights at the dinner theatre, going on boat rides, and spending quality time at their lake house. Andrea enjoyed sewing, landscaping, gardening, cycling, walking, cooking, singing, playing the piano, and spending time with family and friends including their dog named Bear and cat named Peanut. Andrea was also a member of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (Aorn). Most recently Andrea served as the Director of Perioperative Services at Truman Medical Center Lakewood up until her passing. She had dedicated over forty years of her life to nursing.
Andrea was preceded in death by her parents, Windle Johnson and Ruth Gilbert; and sister, Linda Barnhouse.
She is survived by her loving husband of eight years, Ronald A. Verba Sr.; two daughters, Kate Van Gorden (Paul) and Allison Spalter; two stepsons, Ronald Verba Jr. and Ryan Verba; and two grandchildren Marlowe and Beckett Van Gorden.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave., Kansas City, Missouri 64105.
