ALMA PAULINE BROWN

Alma Pauline Brown, age 88, of Raymore, Missouri, passed away at Kansas City Hospice on Friday, April 5, 2024.

Services will be held at Cullen Funeral Home, 612 W. Foxwood Dr. Raymore, Missouri 64083 on Thursday April 11, 2024.  Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m.  Alma will then be laid to rest at Raymore Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.  The family requests that attendees not feel compelled to dress formal, rather be comfortable for services.

Alma was born at home in Cheyenne County, Kansas on February 23, 1936, to William Bartholoma and Genevieve (Brooks) Bartholoma. On August 13, 1955, she was joined in marriage to her faithful and loving husband of sixty-eight years, Larry Brown.  Alma worked for the Welfare Department in Nevada and Kansas City. She eventually gained employment at Bendix/Honeywell in Kansas City where she retired after twenty-seven years as a Program Planner.  Afterwards she worked for the Cass County Library as well as First Baptist Church of Raymore. She also continued volunteer work with the children's and nursery ministries at the church, as well as ministering to home bound women.

From early on Alma cultivated a tradition of family get-togethers and dinners. She loved having her family together and everyone looked forward to her delicious Sunday meals and time of fun, games and fellowship with each other. Alma loved her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ and could always be found working in her church, especially tenderly caring for the babies in the nursery for decades and supporting North American and International Missions. One of her favorite hobbies was crocheting afghan blankets. For close to sixty years there were always afghans for the family and donations to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home. When her grandchildren came along that easily became her favorite pastime. She was a doting grandmother. There were many days and nights spent loving, caring, playing games, fixing meals and spending time at the swimming pool with all of them. She created special memories and a legacy with each of them.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; and two sisters and her grandson Jake Scott.

Here to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Larry Brown; two sons, Greg Brown and Lynn Brown (Libby); daughter, Robin Gardner (Al); sister Rita Bader; seven grandchildren, Cassy (Justin), James (Megan), Eric (Jen), Aubrey (Ryan), Sarah (Simone), Rachael (Nathan) and Zach and thirteen great grandchildren.
