Obituary

ALFRED GEORGE GEBAUER JR.

Alfred (Al) George Gebauer, Jr. 90, of Raymore, Mo. went to God's heavenly home on December 27, 2022 after living a joyful, faith filled life. Funeral services will be held on January 10, 2023 at St. Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis Ave., Belton, Missouri 64012. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. with burial at Belton Cemetery in Belton, Missouri. For those unable to attend services, St. Sabina Church will be live streaming via their Facebook page.

Al was born December 1, 1932 in St. Louis, Missouri to Alfred and Rose (Wingeron) Gebauer. After losing Rose at an early age, his father married Al's loving Stepmother, Margaret (Agnew).

Al met the love of his life, Kathleen Larrison Day, when they both worked at Gelner's Grocery Store in High Ridge, Missouri. Al and Kathleen were married on December 16, 1952, and were blessed with 8 children and a loving marriage of 69 years.

Al served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953 - 1955. Following military service, Al and family relocated to Kansas City, working 40 years with Havens Steel Company starting as a draftsman. Al retired in 1995 as Vice President of Fabrication Operations. While working full time and raising 8 children, he was active in Knights of Columbus O'Hara Council and Boy Scouts of America. Al loved to hunt, fish, play softball, garden and work crossword puzzles. Al and Kathleen were active members of their parish, and enjoyed being part of their St. Sabina Christian prayer group, forming long lasting friendships.

Al will be missed by his family, especially his love of his family and his quiet steady guidance. However, now he is reunited with Kathleen who he missed every day after her passing.

Al is preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Margaret, and beautiful wife, Kathleen. He is survived by his children, Kathy Alexander (Cliff), David Gebauer (Sharon), Patty Steinshouer (Danny), Linda Gebauer, Cindy Stein (David), Greg Gebauer (Dawn), Phil Gebauer (Chris-Anne), and Mary Shatford (Kurt); sister Alma Hoffmann and brother Michael (Mary) Gebauer; eleven grandchildren; and seventeen great grandchildren.
