ALBERTA KAY MITCHELL

Alberta Kay Mitchell, age 75, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021.

Kay was born in Lexington, Missouri on May 4, 1946 to Alvin and Roberta Raney. Kay graduated from Higginsville High School and spent many years working as a construction worker with Superior Bowen as well as an independent truck driver. However, to know Kay was to know that she was at her best when she was on one of her horses. Kay was an incredibly competitive barrel racer, and to those who knew her, tough as nails. She competed for many years up until she was sixty-five, when circumstances prevented her from doing what she loved. She left a legacy in the equine industry through her breeding program and performance horses.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Roberta Raney; and brother AJ Raney.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Rodawn Minor (Troy); and three grandchildren, Lindy Minor, Tylar Minor, and Wyatt Minor.
